ABOUT TIM

Tim Barnes is a writer, director, and producer whose work spans late-night, sketch, multi-camera comedy, animation, and audio. Over the past decade, he has built a career creating worlds that pair absurdity with relatability, from the broken utopia of Maurice on Mars (Comedy Central) to the faulty justice of JUDGE TRAVIS (2026 Signal Award finalist for Best Writing and Scripted Fiction).

Barnes participated in the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival Creators Market and has written for the 2026 WGA East Awards, the Nickelodeon sitcom Warped!, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Nickelodeon’s 2019 revival of All That, and NPR’s Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me!

In addition to hosting You Are The Genre, where he explores the winding creative paths of his guests, he has developed and produced a range of podcasts, including VICE Media’s Webby-nominated Science Solved It, First Look Media’s Politically Re-Active, and Earwolf’s Kondabolu Brothers.

The Chicago Tribune described him as “a smooth wordsmith who is sharp, polished and confident.”
